Additional Information:

These cottages owned by the National Trust was extensively damaged when the thatched roof caught on fire.

We were appointed by the National Trust to carry out a complete refurbishment. This involved working alongside a conservation architect insuring the new replacement materials and finishes replicated the original. Rebuilding the unstable cob walls using reclaimed cob and new cob blocks. Salvaging existing oak timbers and reusing them where practical and supplementing with new using traditional skills produced a sympathetic match. Extensive use of lime mortars in the repointing of the stone and applying the many undulating coats of plaster creating the traditional country cottage look.
